Durgā is a Goddess of war, a Warrior form of the Hindu Goddess Parvati, embodying the concept of creation through destruction.

The photos in this book were taken whilst visiting family in Tamil Nadu following the passing of my Grandmother, Parvati, the trip coinciding with the Durgā pilgrimage.

Durgā is therefore a project that is a reflection on Ritual, Memory and Loss, containing photographs by myself and traditional recipes written by my Grandmother taken from her recipe book.

All profits are going to a Covid relief fund helping day wagers in India. All recipes are Vegetarian and mostly Vegan. The recipes are derived from Traditional Ayurvedic cooking principles.
