Recalling her youth in the 1960s, Edith looks back on Solidago, an all-female rural community that she was sent to, to give birth to a daughter she had conceived outside of marriage. There, a group of women form a group set apart from the constrictions of 1960s Britain. Amongst them, she is captured and lulled by Solidago’s unusual character and its atmosphere of freedom. However, her body acts as a constant reminder of the temporary nature of her visit and the trauma to come.
